Adam Schiffer

Adam Schiffer studies American politics, with an emphasis on the role of the news media.  His most recent publications explore the ability of blogs to set the mainstream press’ agenda, and partisan bias in newspaper election coverage.  His first book, Conditional Press Influence in Poltics, is available from Lexington Books. It articulates and tests a theory of when the press is powerful in politics, and when it cedes its power to other actors. He has also contributed to the literatures on agenda setting and ideological self-identification.  Dr. Schiffer earned his Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina in 2003, and started at TCU that fall.  He teaches courses on American politics, the news media, public opinion, and research methods.  He collects vintage Top-40 countdown shows, and knows more about 80's pop music than you and every person you've ever met, combined. He and his wife Becky are currently practicing for eventual parenthood with nearly a dozen pets.
