is a Professor of the
Political Science
Department at Texas
Christian
University. A native
of Denton, Texas,
Dr. Riddlesperger
has taught at TCU
since 1982. His
primary teaching
fields are American
politics and
research methods,
with a specialty in
studying the
American presidency.
While at TCU, he has
earned teaching
awards, including
the Dean's Teaching
Award. He has
published more than
30 research articles
and more than a
dozen entries in
encyclopedias, and
he co-edited
Presidential
Leadership and Civil
Rights Policy.
He is completing a
book manuscript
entitled "Getting
Started: Transitions
in the Modern
Presidency" and is
working on a project
studying the
selection of
Speakers of the
United States House
of Representatives
in the 20th Century.
A frequent
consultant to the
news media
concerning politics
and elections, he
serves also as a
Question Leader and
a faculty consultant
to the College
Board's AP U.S.
Government exam. He
is married to Dr.
Kristina
Riddlesperger
(Assistant Professor
of Nursing at TCU)
and has two sons,
James III, a
University of Texas '06 graduate,
and David, a sophomore
at TCU.
